From brokerage sites to national platforms

A broader view of the home search journey.

I’m a Technical SEO Analyst at Redfin. My career has taken me from supporting real estate agents and brokerage websites to investigating search and indexing across national property platforms.

At Rocket, I worked across Rocket Homes, ForSaleByOwner and a later Rocket and Rocket Mortgage transition assignment. That experience connects the details of property data with content, site architecture and the decisions people make when finding and financing a home.

CyberFingers is my personal professional portfolio. The projects here include work delivered with colleagues in my in-house roles, alongside earlier consulting experience.

Good questions. Shared progress.

I enjoy connecting people with different specialties and making technical findings useful to everyone in the room.

01 / Investigate

Evidence before conclusions

I compare crawl data, search performance and page behavior, check samples and distinguish observed patterns from proven causes.

02 / Collaborate

Explain the purpose

I give content, product and engineering partners the context, requirements and checks they need to move work forward, and share credit for the result.

03 / Keep learning

Try, evaluate, improve

My AI practice has grown from article summaries to reusable content workflows and browser agents. Hack Week work has also included image evaluation and accessibility with colleagues.

Tools & credentials

Search and data: Botify, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, Snowflake / SQL, Nozzle, Datadog and Splunk.

AI and delivery: ChatGPT Projects, Codex, Claude, AI-assisted Python, Playwright and Puppeteer, WordPress, Magento, Jira and Confluence.

Credentials: Botify Pro and Expert certifications. BS in Oceanography and BA in Geology, Humboldt State University.

A foundation in scientific research

During a summer internship as a Physical Science Aid with the U.S. Geological Survey in Palo Alto, I worked with geologist Roberto J. Anima on research for my Humboldt State senior thesis. I used cesium-137 (Cs-137) dating and X-radiography of sediment cores to investigate how quickly sediment accumulated in San Francisco Bay, comparing the evidence with the first appearance of an introduced species. The project strengthened habits I bring to SEO today: frame a question, compare evidence and explain what the data supports.

The ideas behind CyberFingers

Walking fingers. Inspired by the Yellow Pages idea of letting your fingers do the walking to find information.

Salt fingers. An oceanographic mixing process in which warmer, saltier water above cooler, less salty water forms narrow rising and sinking streams. David’s science background brought this second meaning to “fingers.”

The early web. “Cyber” connected those ideas to online discovery when David chose the name in 2003.

The AI era. Today, David guides agents to gather, connect and verify information. This is a modern extension of the original idea: discovery supported by human curiosity and judgment.

Why CyberFingers?

I chose the name in 2003 by bringing together two ideas: the Yellow Pages image of fingers doing the walking to find information, and “salt fingers” from my oceanography background.

Salt fingers are narrow streams formed as warmer, saltier water mixes with cooler, less salty water. “Cyber” carried those ideas into the early web era. The name connects discovery with my curiosity about how complex systems work.

Today, that idea also fits how I use AI: guide agents to gather information, connect sources and check what the evidence supports.
